Goal 1 – Get on the court

Roby possesses an extraordinary amount of talent. He is a slightly undersized power forward at 6’8” but shot the 3-ball at G-League level at an impressive 40.0 percent. He can pretty much do anything on the court; when he can get back out there.

Harry Giles of the Sacramento Kings was said to be one of the most talented players to enter the NBA in years. The problem was he could not get on the court often enough to show that and as a result, his team option for the 2020-21 season was declined last year.

Similarly, Roby has talent but due to plantar fasciitis, he has had question marks over whether he will make it in the NBA. He has been dealing with this since his college days in Nebraska and had a season-ending procedure prior to the NBA restart.

With the new season starting so soon, Roby needs to focus on getting his body right. He can then set about making the biggest impact possible when he is able to return to the court fully healthy. If he can do that then there is a chance that the Thunder will guarantee his deal beyond the end of next season.

If he does not spend the time getting his body right then he can most probably kiss his NBA aspirations goodbye. Hopefully, this will not be the case.
