Work on his 3-point shot.

As stated earlier, Dort went was not selected in the 2019 NBA draft, mainly due to his outside shot. Now that he is in the starting lineup for the OKC Thunder, he needs to spend this season improving this hole in his game.

He shot the 3-ball at 29.7 percent during the 2019-20 season which is a little problematic. When he is on the court he is being used offensively as a floor spacer. He can attack the rim but that avenue will be cut off by NBA defenders if they don’t have to worry about his 3-point shot.

In the Houston Rockets series, one game plan employed by ex-coach Mike D’Antoni was to drop off Dort, encouraging him to shoot. It worked for one game with Dort shooting 0-of-9 from deep and the Thunder suffered a huge loss.

By doing this Houston was able to help on other defensive tasks and effectively shut down the Thunder ball movement. If Dort were to get his 3-point shooting to where he made 35 percent or more, this would greatly benefit the Thunder.

This would then allow Dort to use his explosive athleticism to get the rim as well, making Dort incredibly hard to stop. This then gives the Thunder an incredible young core which can all play two ways.
