OKC Thunder among leaders in NBA offseason power rankings
Cleveland Cavaliers
Perplexing is the answer when it comes to describing the choices the Cavaliers made this offseason. Although drafting Isaac Okoro was a smart decision and one that will shore up the defense the other moves the Cavaliers made seem to indicate they are quite comfortable sticking with their small backcourt who so far hasn’t proven to be complimentary.
Defense of the paint is a priority which is puzzling given the Cavaliers featured Tristan Thompson, Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, and Larry Nance Jr. in the frontcourt. Thompson exits and Love will need to stay healthy and summon his best leadership skills. Cleveland appears to be doubling down on Collin Sexton and Darius Garland while still searching to establish an identity and system that can work with both on the hardwood simultaneously.
If you’re scratching your head over the free-agent signings join the group as Cleveland brought in more big men (Thon Maker, JaVale McGee, and Marques Bolden) instead of adding 3 and D wings or any wings aside from Okoro in the draft.
