OKC Thunder takeaway No. 3) Team is one piece away from being REALLY good

Heading into the year, many tabbed the OKC Thunder as one of the most likely teams to finish with the worst record in the entire league.

While it’s only 12 games in, one can likely already come to the conclusion that they are not a “bad” enough team to contend for such a lowly slot. Though some fans are hoping that the team will eventually wind up tanking for a top-3 pick in the upcoming 2020-21 draft, there are some who are under the impression that this team can still rebuild correctly while also properly competing in the now.

To start the year, the team has shown a consistent grit and grind approach to their game that has kept them in a majority of contests. While the Thunder are somewhat ahead of the game in terms of rebuilding, as they already seem to have a franchise player in SGA, should they bring on the right piece to run alongside him, this team could actually go from a “competitive” squad to a REALLY good one.

Of course, there are many who hope this piece will come in the shape of Oklahoma State point guard Cade Cunningham but there are also some already-established NBA players who would be fine grabs for the front office to land should they so choose, such as John Collins, Marvin Bagley, and Aaron Gordon, just to name a few.

No matter which route they opt to take, the future is bright for the OKC Thuder.
