OKC Thunder: Former guard Alex Abrines shouts-out team
By Rylan Stiles
The OKC Thunder embark on yet another NBA season, taking part in the historic 75th anniversary season which tips off tonight as the Oklahoma City Thunder takes on the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
This will be the start of an 82-game campaign as the NBA returns to normal, knock on wood, for the first time in what feels like forever. It is hard to believe that we have squeezed in like three seasons in a year.
The NBA is rolling out their top-75 players list, everyone has high hopes and expectations, and is filled with anticipation for a fun and what seems like wide-open NBA season.
Former OKC Thunder guard Alex Abrines shouts out the team
The Oklahoma City Thunder fanbase rallied around Alex Abrines during his tenure as an OKC Thunder role player. Playing from 2016-2019 after being selected with the 32nd pick in the 2013 NBA Draft as a draft-and-stash player.
The 6’6 guard grew a following from his distance shooting and rubbing of the beard three-point celebration after every nailed triple. He shot three times per game from beyond the arc to the tune of a 36-percent success rate from deep.
Alex Abrines was a very good role player for the OKC Thunder, had a fun connection with star player Russell Westbrook, and his work ethic and hustle resonated with Oklahoma City Citizens.
Abrines left the NBA following the 2018-19 season and battled mental health struggles in that span. The Thunder fanbase never stopped rooting for the 28-year-old, and it turns out he never stopped rooting for the OKC Thunder. He even calls the organization “My beloved OKC Thunder.” His highlight clip will take you down memory lane.
Alex Abrines is back playing professional basketball overseas, in the EuroLeague for FC Barcelona. What is your favorite Abrines moment?
