Dime dishers:

As for playmaking, Washington averages 23.4 dimes per match ranking in a two-way tie with the Hawks for 13th. The Thunder creates the fewest assists in the association with 20 per contest.

Perimeter:

For as well as the Wizards have performed this season they are still struggling from range shooting 32.6 deep balls per game connecting at a 33.2 percent efficiency (making 10.8) which ranks 22nd. The Thunder rank 29th with a 30.9 percent efficiency making 11.9 of their 38.6 attempted 3-pointers.

Notably, the Wizards rank third for perimeter defense which isn’t that big of a deal for OKC given how they shoot the deep ball.

Turnovers:

The Wizards turn the ball over 14.1 times per game ranking them in a three-way tie for 12th overall.

As a young team the Thunder experience some good weeks and bad weeks when it comes to protecting the ball. Recently they improved which finds them averaging 14.7 turnovers per game and ranking 20th overall.

Miscellaneous Categories:

Washington doesn’t take full advantage of the four key miscellaneous categories and only ranks in the top ten for scoring in the paint – no doubt Montrezl Harrell impacts those figures.

They rank in the bottom three for points scored off turnovers and fastbreak scoring which should help Mark Daigneault’s game plan.

  • Points off turnovers: 13.8   – rank 28th
  • Second Chance points: 11.9 – rank 18th
  • Fastbreak points: 8.4 – rank tied 30th
  • Points in the paint: 48.1 – rank 7th

Defensively the Wizards perform well in three of the four main categories limiting teams scoring off turnovers, and second-chance scoring. They excel in transition defense boasting the second-fewest points scored in that manner and are middle of the road at protecting the paint.

  • Points off turnovers: 15.6 – rank in a tie for ninth
  • Second Chance points: 11.5 – ranks in a three-way tie for eighth-best
  • Fast Break points: 9.0 – rank 2ndh
  • Points in the paint: 46.5  – rank 17th

NOTE: The statistical notes were pulled from the NBA official site at the beginning of the week and will have slightly changed since then.
