The OKC Thunder are being hit hard by a COVID-19 outbreak that has seen players shuffle in and out of COVID-19 health and safety protocols all week in the midst of one of their most game-heavy seven-day stretches of the season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder also just wrapped up a west coast swing, a back-to-back which has driven me to consume way too much coffee on very little sleep. The Thunder have already signed Rob Edwards, Scotty Hopson, and Olivier Sarr as replacement players to ten-day deals, and now welcome back an old friend into the fold.

OKC Thunder ink Hoard to a ten-day deal aimed COVID-19 outbreak within the team

Last season, Jaylen Hoard played in 19-games for the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 16 minutes per game, six points, three rebounds, an assist, and nearly a steal per game. Hoard never hit a three but did shoot 50-percent from the floor in his time with OKC thanks to his cutting ability. While playing the season out on a two-way contract with the Thunder, Hoard stayed with the organization to work out in Oklahoma City during the offseason.

Days leading up to the draft, Hoard was the one to spill the beans about Sam Presti bringing Maryland forward Aaron Wiggins in for a Pre-Draft workout. The OKC Thunder eventually drafted Wiggins 55th overall, after Hoard showed the two at dinner in Bricktown days before. The two grew up together, bonding a friendship since high school. Hoard shared high praise of the organization with Wiggins upon the OKC Thunder drafting him.

Jaylen Hoard went through training camp with the Thunder during the preseason before being waived and shuffled down to their G-Leauge affiliate, the OKC Blue. The 22-year-old is back in the NBA on a ten-day pact with Oklahoma City as the team tries to add depth aimed their COVID outbreak. We will see if the Woke Forest product has a shot to stick around on the varsity roster past these first ten days. In his debut, Hoard went 0-for-1 from the floor, pulled in two rebounds, and logged nearly two minutes of action against the Suns.
