Oklahoma City Thunder weekly notebook details the Thunder getting fined, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being a star, the Blue starting, and where this team goes from here

The biggest piece of news over the past week was the Oklahoma City Thunder being fined by the NBA for improperly reporting injury updates. This fine centered around Josh Giddey, which caught a lot of people by surprise given that the OKC Thunder updated Giddey to questionable at 4:30 of the Orlando Magic game, and Mark Daigneault then confirmed he would play pregame.

So when the fine was handed down, the bench boss was asked about how that process went down he explained it was due to the day before Mark Daigneault told reporters Giddey practiced while he was still listed as out.

The OKC Thunder head coach said he will not be as detailed with injury updates and which guys practice and to what capacity given how the NBA punished the franchise for it in this instance.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to look the part of an NBA star. In eight games this season, the 24-year-old is averaging 30 points, four rebounds, and six assists per game, while shooting 53 percent from the floor, 30 percent from three, and 96 percent from the line.

In win shares per 48 minutes, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ranks 8th only behind Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Love, Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, and Steph Curry. This season would be SGA’s first All-Star nod as he is playing the best basketball of his career on both ends of the floor.

The OKC Blue opened up their season with a 28-point comeback win over the NBA G-League Ignite on Friday night after they held their annual Media Day on Wednesday.
