The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Victor Oladipo from the Miami Heat at the start of free agency back in July for the benefit of netting second-round picks to help the Heat out with salary cap relief. Oladipo is rehabbing from yet another injury, and OKC Thunder general manager Sam Presti gave insight on the looming roster decision.

As the summer comes to a close and the OKC Thunder are set to report for media day and training camp on Monday, Sam Presti still has plenty of roster decisions to make. With 21 players on the roster, the Thunder have to release a trio of players to get within roster compliance.

Sam Presti gave insight into what the OKC Thunder will do with Victor Oladipo before training camp.

On Wednesday, Sam Presti held his annual preseason media availability. The assembled media asked Presti about the roster crunch, specifically if Victor Oladipo, who is rehabbing an injury, would report to training camp.

Sam Presti broke the news that NBA veteran Victor Oladipo is not going to be in camp for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who value having a full roster during this time frame. “so we will have to make a decision on that contract,” the Thunder General Manager adds.

Presti would explain that while Victor Oladipo will be coming back this season, the Thunder are not necessarily in the position to let him sit out and rehab while the OKC Thunder wait for his return. Despite the youth on this team, the Thunder have a deep roster with plenty of players fighting for minutes.

Of course, The OKC Thunder organization has deep ties and a great relationship with Victor Oladipo, who will make an NBA comeback later this season. Now, it is the waiting game to see if Oladipo is traded or, more likely, waived.
