Throughout their 17-year existence, the OKC Thunder have found themselvs rostering some of the best talents the game has had to offer.
From all-timers like Russell Westbrook to new-age ballers such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City has regularly been synonymous with some of the biggest names in the association, and it always appears to be noteworthy news when those from the past are found linking up with franchise players in the now.
This summer alone, budding star big Chet Holmgren has regularly been spotted with Thunder members of old, and, recently, the reigning rookie phenom was seen taking part in on-court activities with ex franchise cornerstone, Kevin Durant.
Chet Holmgren spotted yet again with ex-Thunder star, Kevin Durant
Along with the two frontcourt savants, the star-studded pick-up run consisted of several other top-tier talents, including Houston Rockets rising stud Jalen Green and Cleveland Cavaliers star Darius Garland.
As mentioned, this is not the first time Holmgren has linked with a former Thunder player, as he's been seen putting in offseason work and simply conversing with several of such individuals since the club's 2023-24 campaign came to a close in mid May.
Interestingly enough, this isn't even the first time the 22-year-old has been found working out with Durant, as the two were spotted training with one another back in June in a behind-the-scenes session also held by Dashletics.
Though there are some who may still feel a sense of disdain when it comes to the likes of Durant, who spurned the franchise back in the summer of 2016 and signed with the Golden State Warriors in free agency, seeing him putting in work with Holmgren on multiple occasions this offseason should be recognized as an exciting happening for Thunder fans.
Both ballers boast somewhat similar builds, as they're quite long (both measure in at over 6-foot-11) and lengthy (both has wingspans measuring in at around 7-foot-5), and have rather comparable styles of play, particularly on the offensive end, what with their abilities to score inside and out, put the ball on the floor, and switch between multiple positions on each end of the court.
Following a sensational debut campaign in 2023-24 where he dropped averages of 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.3 blocks on 53.0 percent shooting from the floor and 37.0 percent shooting from deep, many believe that Holmgren is all but guarenteed to be one of the next big stars in the NBA.
With this in mind, who better for him to try and emulate the game of than Durant, the last Thunder forward who took the league by storm with his unicorn-esque game and stature combination?
