After the magical, history-setting season the OKC Thunder just pulled off, excitement for their follow-up 2024-25 campaign is currently through the roof.
Not only is the main core that paved the way to 57 wins and their first semifinal berth since 2016 still largely intact, but, this summer, Sam Presti and company managed to bolster the supporting cast and fill in the primary weaknesses that were previously present within coach Mark Daigneault's rotation with the signing of Isaiah Hartenstein and trade acquisition of Alex Caruso.
As a result, they're currently slotted only behind the reigning champion Boston Celtics in the odds department to win the 2025 NBA Finals at +700.
And while fans, pundits, and even the team as a whole are champing at the bit as they await October 24's season opener against the Denver Nuggets, before this fateful exhibition comes underway they'll need to get through training camp, and there are several things the franchise's faithful followers must know about as we head into these final stages of the offseason.
OKC Thunder Training Camp Start Date and Other Key Dates
When is OKC Thunder Media Day?
The Thunder are slated to kick off their final stretch run of the offseason with the league's annual Media Day on September 30, along with 28 other teams.
The only two clubs not taking part in the festivities on this particular date are the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets, who will hold theirs on September 24 due to an early start to preseason action via an October 4 matchup against one another out in Abu Dhabi.
What is the official start date for Thunder training camp?
Player and team personnel are expected to begin training camp for the 2024-25 campaign the following day after Media Day, which is set for Tuesday, October 1.
What is the OKC Thunder's preseason schedule?
The Thunder will start their preseason on October 7 with a game against the recently re-tooled Spurs out in San Antonio.
Including this exhibition, Oklahoma City is scheduled to partake in two road and three home games, though their October 10 matchup against the New Zealand Breakers won't be held at Paycom Center but, rather, the BOK Center out in Tulsa.
