As the OKC Thunder wrapped up their stint in Orlando the focus now shifts to the gambling city as the Las Vegas Summer League starts.

Although two separate events occurred in Orlando and Utah the big tournament is the Las Vegas Summer League. This tournament features the majority teams. In all, 24 teams will take part in the 11 day event. Despite not being one of the participants the OKC Thunder will be just as interested in the Vegas event. Particularly after Semaj Christon failed to impress in Orlando.

It’s been a busy 7 days for OKC with the Paul George trade, free agency signing of Patrick Patterson and re-signing of Andre Roberson. For Sam Presti it could be said the nitty-gritty work begins now as he fills out the roster with a view to finding Russell Westbrook’s backup and ensuring there are 3-point shooting specialists. Certainly the latter category has taken a positive jump with George and Patterson, but OKC require more 3-point shooters.  This might be found on the existing roster, specifically if Doug McDermott, Jerami Grant and Alex Abrines all put in the work this offseason. The five NBA teams joining the Thunder who won’t be in Vegas are the Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic.
