Russell Westbrook wasn’t always tall.

When he entered high school, Westbrook was just 5’8″ and 140 pounds. In fact, he didn’t even learn to dunk until his senior year of high school. But as his skills increased so, too, did his height.

By the time he graduated, Westbrook stood at 6’3″ averaging 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.1 steals, and 2.3 assists. That same year, he was offered a scholarship to play for the UCLA Bruins.

Given his growth spurt that senior year of high school, it’s not a stretch (pun intended) to assume Westbrook was thrilled to finally be tall enough to dunk. And, he’s taken advantage of that skill ever since. Just look at this example:

Or, for more proof, take a look at this ruthless dunk over an opponent who, seconds previous, had been busy typing his shoe:

Said ClutchPoints writer Virgil Villanueva:

"“While it may not be part of Russell Westbrook’s highlight reel, the following video shows another proof of Russ’s ruthlessness. He will dunk on anyone. He doesn’t care if you’re tying your shoes.”"
