Thunder cares.

Founded in 2008, Thunder Cares has made a significant impact on the lives and wellbeing of Oklahomans. As part of the nationwide association NBA Cares, Thunder Cares aims to give back to the community while addressing important issues it faces.

According to their official mission statement:

"“The Thunder Community Relations Department works to create programs and partnerships that make a positive impact on the greater Oklahoma City Community. Our primary focus is on youth, with an emphasis on reading and literacy, health and fitness, and youth basketball.”"

Some of the organization’s programs include the Thunder Community Foundation, Rolling Thunder Book Bus, Thunder Fit, Thunder Youth Basketball, and Devon Community Hero.

Throughout the year, you can find the Thunder Cares organization teaming with Sunbeam Family Services to bring holiday joy to families in need, playing Bingo with senior citizens, and hosting an annual food drive.

Additionally, during every Thunder home game, the organization spotlights a Teacher of the Game. Honorees represent their school district’s Teacher of the Year program and are recognized in partnership with Oklahoma City’s American Fidelity Assurance Company.
