It still feels like this season is lost and the Kings who were the Cinderella squad of 2018-19 are arguably the most disappointing this campaign simply by virtue of failing to come close to expectations. And now there are rumors of turmoil within the brain trust.

Certainly, injuries played a role in what occurred but the fit of Luke Walton as head coach hasn’t translated like the Kings’ brain trust expected. It’s only serving to make the dismissal of Dave Joerger all the more perplexing.

The key this season was to improve defensively and the Kings have failed to manage that. Worse, they also lost their strength which was the offense buoyed by a top five pace last season.

With the whispers growing it will be interesting to see if Vlade Divac, Luke Walton or both get the ax. A coaching change would mean the third in three seasons which isn’t ideal with a predominantly young team who are trying to build and grow through constancy.
