Josh Green skills and weaknesses:

Strengths:

Green’s greatest strength is arguably his defense and when you have a team that has Luguentz Dort, that is just music to your ears.

As a tenacious defender, he is someone who is up for the challenge with great lateral speed and resilience even when he is beaten while guarding. In his single season in Arizona, he was placed into different situations taking on the best guards where he excelled. Green is persistent on defense and won’t back off until he can force a missed shot or turnover. This dedication is important in building an “all-in” mindset across the floor.

Furthermore, Green is a good spot-up shooter known for his slashing and go-to floater with nice form in his shooting position that has potential. His incredible energy and explosiveness is also an exciting part of his game.

Another strength is his passing ability, which does have room for improvement but indicates the absence of necessity to have the ball in his hands at all times. He is willing to sacrifice for his teammates and provide rapid support when in transition.

Weaknesses:

As they say “your greatest strength can become your greatest weakness.” For Green that comes in the form of his zeal on the court being at times too much in certain scenarios. He can sometimes over-commit on defense and fall into an offensive trap.

This also impacts his finishing at the rim and precision in passing which could be more accurate. Though he can shoot well from outside the arc, improvements can be made in his scoring off his own playmaking as it can lead to the reliance of his teammates. With his size and strength, he’ll need to find ways to utilize this better so he can have a stronger influence when driving to the basket.

Most of the things to be wary of here are on the offensive end. And while players with an amazing defensive mindset are hard to pass up, offense really does make a difference. If the Thunder are to consider him, they will need to take into account his flaws on attack.

Overall, there’s a lot to look forward to with Green’s game. His courage to reach new heights and transition from college hoops to the NBA will be the true test.
