Season goal for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander No. 1) Rebound more

Last season Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 5.9 rebounds per game which is decent for a guard. However, most of the top rebounders from last year is playing on other NBA teams this season and this is going to give plenty of opportunity for all players on the current roster.

At 6’5″, SGA is a really good height to compete for rebounds and he can then start the break in a similar manner to ex-OKC Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook. SGA has a surprising burst of speed and the ability to slip through the smallest gap in order to score. He can look very awkward but his shot is effective.

However, it is not just the fast break opportunities that can be generated which are the most important aspect of his rebounding. SGA is going to be a leader for this franchise for years to come and this means that he is going to lead by his actions.

This means that SGA is going to need to do all the little things which help a team succeed. The old adage of the defensive possession is not over until the rebound is secure is going to be even more relevant his season and SGA is going to need to be one of the leaders in this.
