The Nuggets used their one draft pick to add a guard who can help fill the void of Jamal Murray as he recovers from the ACL injury.
Michael Porter Jr. like Doncic (and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) will be eligible for the five-year $168 million contract extension as of midnight. Unlike Doncic and SGA the Nuggets may want to exercise caution by waiting or if they do offer an extention limit it to four years or insert specific benchmarks and phrasing similar to what the 76ers did with Joel Embiid.
The majority of the Nuggets free agents are 30 and older, other than Rivers and two-way player Harrison who are 28 and 27 respectively. Only Howard (21) is young enough to fit the timeline but he’s 5’10 and given the glut of OKC Thunder guards (and lengthy ones at that) it’s an overreach to suggest him.
