Another edition of the OKC Thunder weekly notebook! We are just a few weeks away from Media Day and Training camp in Bricktown, which will take place the last week of September. October 3rd brings the first preseason game in Denver against the Nuggets, we are so close to being back!

The Oklahoma City Thunder news has not slowed down, for better or worse, even after second overall pick Chet Holmgren underwent a successful procedure on his right foot that will hold him out for the entire 2022-23 NBA season. So let’s dive into this week’s notebook as the team is back in Bricktown preparing for the 2022-23 season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander conducted a mini-training camp, Sam Presti is already scouting the 2023 NBA Draft, and I am on my third cup of coffee!

The OKC Thunder are back in town for the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, players take in football games, the Thompson twins are publically on Presti’s radar, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander holds a mini-camp

The Oklahoma City Thunder are back in town this week as Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Darius Bazley, Aaron Wiggins, and Josh Giddey were in attendance for the Oklahoma Sooners football game against Kent State while Lindy Waters III went to Stillwater to see his Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

We also found out on Instagram that Jalen Williams and Aleksej Pokusevski are officially back in Bricktown as well. This is common for NBA teams to get settled in their home city before the start of training camp, as the preseason moves quickly in the NBA. The Thunder will hold training camp on September 27th and need to cut their roster down to 17 players (including the two two-way slots) by October 17th. There is no time to adjust on the fly.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got the group prepared with a mini-camp last week that featured Mark Daigneault, Chip Engelland, and 14 OKC Thunder players. The team met with a player developmental coach, the guard whisperer, Olin Simplis.

As the boys get back in town, Chet Holmgren just can not wait to hoop again.

We also found out that the Oklahoma City Thunder sent two scouts to Serbia to go see projected lottery picks Amen and Ausar Thompson and potential first-round pick Nikola Druidic. The Thunder, Jazz, and Timberwolves all sent multiple representatives to this contest.

The 2023 NBA Draft news does not stop there, projected top overall pick Victor Wembanyama will face off with the projected second overall pick Scoot Henderson on October 4th and 6th in Vegas at the G-League Ignite’s new home the Dollar Loan Center.

As a final note, the latest edition of the NBA 2k video game, NBA 2k23, was released on Friday you can check out the entire Oklahoma City Thunder roster player ratings as well as see how simulating the Thunder season went!
