The case for Monty Williams:

The argument for Williams would be, he only got one season with Westbrook, and I would even agree that is not enough time. A rebuttal to that would be it is Westbrook’s mentality and maybe it will not matter who is on the sidelines.

If he is, the OKC Thunder have to act fast as it seems like the current 76ers assistant is in line to be the next head coach of the upstart Suns, though the Lakers are still in play.

The OKC Thunder and Sam Presti would have a lot of ground to make up in courting Monty Williams with Billy Donovan not even being canned just yet.

Williams was the head coach in New Orleans for five seasons and won games at a .439 percent clip.

Donovan with a much more talented roster than the 2010-2015 Hornets/Pelicans has a .607 winning percentage.

Monty Williams has not been fully in charge of an NBA team since 2014-15, and his offense then was heavily dependant on mid-range shots. Most plays developed inside the arch during his tenure, though that is not totally fair to pin on him as the NBA did not start truly evolving until Williams was out the door in New Orleans. In his final season, his offense ranked 23rd in the league in 3 point attempts.
